Over the last hundred years, four generations of the Vandewalle family have dedicated their working lives to pastry making. The pretty patisserie simply oozes with temptation – cakes, flans, biscuits and pastries shout out ‘eat me’.
But their speciality is their famous Doigt de Jean Bart gateaux, a name that pays homage to Dunkirk’s most famous corsair. The exact recipe remains a secret but the finger shaped gateaux is filled with coffee cream and almond biscuit and covered in crunchy chocolate.
